Enough with the 2010 Predictions!
Byron K Patrick CPA.CITP MCSE 2003 | December 18, 2009Its Dec 18th, there is a major snow storm brewing here on the East Coast and a growing volume of emails and other work to address. That being said….I can’t handle it anymore. I have to write something about all the 2010 predictions being made. Everyone feels compelled to make their predictions for the coming year, which I’m fine with, but people, lets make some predictions that are in fact…well… predictions. Here are some of my favorites I have come across (with some of my thoughts to go with them…):
- Google will introduce a new Operating System. WOW, now that bleeding edge! Do you think the Google Chrome OS Blog might have been a hint? I suppose next we might predict that the fork will be adopted as the most widely used utensil in 2010?
- Innovation will change how we work in 2010. Hmmmmm, well i guess that has been true every year since the Industrial Revolution so sure, seems like a reasonable statement… I can improve it though, I predict the earth will spin on its axis as it travels around the sun on a 365 day trip, anyt thoughts?
- …firms will buy technology that will improve their productivity. You think, I’m not sure I’m convinced on this one?! They will also buy pens and pencils to use for other forms of communciation.
- Fiber Optic Networks will expand.Almost has bold of a statement as a Google OS…can we say FIOS, 11 million locations and counting….
- Cloud Computing will be Cloudy.Seriously, really?! I guess for those that are still trying to translate mainframe computing to cloud computing it might be hard to grasp.
- PDF files will replace paper. Were you using a digital camera to take pictures of the paper before?  Just as strong of a contender would be, Spreadsheets will replace columnar paper… try to argue otherwise!
- Google will torment Microsoft. Don’t forget to add to the list… Apple will torment PC!
Now for a final 2010 prediction from yours truly…. Hosted Solutions Inc will change its name in 2010 to Simplified Innovations…
See you next year!
